This unique collaboration between Conor Mccreedy and PIEGA resonates with the core essence of both entities involved: it proves that art, in its many forms, is not restricted to a single medium. The marriage of sound and visual art produces a rare harmony, a testament to the limitless possibilities when creativity is allowed to flow freely across boundaries. Find out more about the fascinating background of Conor Mccreedy as well as some unique insights behind the collaboration below.
TURNING A SPEAKER INTO A SCULPTURE
In the heart of Zürich, next to the beautiful Limmat lies the studio of Conor Mccreedy, a contemporary artist whose creative roots spring from his South African heritage. Mccreedy’s artistry that is interlacing elements of chaos theory with an enduring love for the color blue, offers a unique lens through which he portrays his interpretation of the world.
Our journey with Conor Mccreedy has led to an exciting and innovative collaboration. We brought together the structured precision of our complex speaker systems and Mccreedy’s dynamic chaos-theory art. The result is a breathtaking hybrid, a fusion that is as audibly enchanting as it is visually mesmerizing.
Conor, with his skilled artistic vision, has transformed a pair of our Master Line Source 2 Gen2 speakers into an exquisite sculpture. His playful, unpredictable style paired with our technology has given birth to a stunning work of art that not only captivates the eye but also pleases the ear. The resulting masterpiece, beautiful to look at and of course offering impeccable sound quality, exemplifies the perfect blend of art and audio technology.
The speakers are exclusively available to view in-person at the Mccreedy Studio in Zürich via appointment. The showcased speakers are up for sale for a price of CHF 100’000 per pair – it is also possible to order a personalized masterpiece featuring customized art by Conor Mccreedy.
MORE THAN PAINTINGS
Mccreedy’s story transcends beyond his fascinating artworks: alongside his career as an artist, he has also set foot down a profound path within the philanthropic world – with a burning passion for animal conservation, he has founded his own charity, dedicated to the preservation of lions, an emblem of his South African roots which he also often times displays in his art pieces.
His famous self-developed color “Mccreedyblue” becomes immersively alive as it gets paired with one of our white MLS 2 Gen2 speakers. The color he developed consists of a combination of 5 different blue pigments. Although the color already looks fantastic on pictures – it has a very captivating nuance to it in-person – we highly recommend you to experience it yourself if you have the chance to. Our journey with Conor doesn’t end here though – starting on the 12th of June 2023, Conor will be showcasing his new art collection “Alter Ego Wildlife” in a solo exhibition at the Art Basel where he will underline his visual art with a mesmerizing soundscape featuring African wildlife using PIEGA speakers in the NetJets Collectors Lounge. The showcased MLS 2 Gen2 speakers that Conor turned into the amazing artpiece featured on this blogpost will also be showcased there.
“There’s a huge connection between music and art – I think music is the universal language.” was one of many profound statements Conor shared with us during our fascinating collaboration – one of many which we agree with.
